I have suffered from psoriasis for years ony my legs, arms, privates, face and scalp. Im a 26 yr old male! The last 2 years ive noticed my hair is thinning and receeding at the front and temples (where the psoriasis started) which is depressing me more. It stings sometimes when i put the steroid scalp application on which cant be good for it but if i leave it a few days its covered in scales. Now im thinking of shaving it and applying the cream i apply to my face to my scalp! If i shave it atleast i will get some fresh air and sun to my scalp which must be good? Somebody mentioned using neem oil, would that be any good?
Has anybody else experienced thinning hair due to psoriasis on scalp?
For the scalp I use an over OTC product called Scalpecin. C.V.S. has a generic brand as well. This product stings but heals quickly. I find it to work better and quicker than steroid products. The only time I had thinning hair was a side effect form Predisone steroid.

The place for psoriasis to occur, scalp psoriasis is the most obvious to the casual observer. As soon as it appears to be less severe, it may look like dandruff or a minor scalp infection. People with psoriasis are often plagued by others staring at their skin or asking insensitive questions. In a way, it's hard not to stare when confronted with red, raised areas on the skin. They often also have scaly, silvery layers of dead skin cells clinging to the top of the lesions. Unfortunately for sufferers when this condition appears on the scalp it is that much harder to hide. At any rate of the area of skin it covers, skin with psoriasis is a nightmare for the patient. When psoriasis on the scalp is at its worst, it looks like it is a serious annoyance and very painful. It is characterized by red, scaly lesions that are painful and itchy to the sufferer.
