Thinning hair on a woman?

My mom has begun to have thinning hair on the top. I know it bothers her and I would like to do something to help her out.

Any ideas?

i am having the same problem and so is my sister. she has a thyroid problem which can cause thinning hair i guess. i dont know about my thyroid because i dont have insurance. anyway, i hear rogaine really does help but the person has to keep using it and its expensive. when u stop, the hair thins again. good luck to your mom and its nice of you to ask for her :)

there is really nothing you can do...If it bugs her that much, she should wear cool hats....

i've heard this is usually a heriditary thing for women-- you might want to try a new haircut that can be curled on top to fill in the missing spaces or thinness-- or a perm-- also you might want to check with your doctor re: things like rogain for women or any other suggestions in that area.

This could have several reasons ,the posters before me had some pretty good ideas what it could be.

My mom had a blood test done b/c her hair was thinning so much at the top and now she has to take hormon tablets but her hair grew back in a heartbeat.

It also could be related to iron deficancy.However your mom needs to take a blood test to find out what the cause is so she can get treatment.
