Can stress really make your hair thinner?

I'm a 16 year old girl and my hair is pretty thin, but it seemed to be thinning out quite a bit for a while. I wasn't eating right (I was pretty much eating like 600 calories a day), and really stressed, but for about 3 months now I have been doing better and my hair seems way healthier. But I was wondering - I know that because I didn't eat a lot that my hair was falling out (I think?) - can stress really do that to your hair? Because I am still really stressed and I want to get my hair thicker. It is naturally pretty thin though.

Sorry, that was kind of confusing. But thanks.

Yes stress is a key factor for hair loss. But also since your so stressed and not getting the proper nutrients then that could be a the key to your hair loss. I think at your age if you were to eat more then your problem would problem go away. Stress is more a key fatcor on males then females. And at your age16, your fine. Just eat a little more shortie.

stress does make your hair thinner

Stress causes your hormones to change, which can cause a whole bunch of problems. And not eating enough means you don't get the proper nutrients so your body has to feed the most important organs like the heart and kidneys, rather than the hair follicles.

You can't change genetics if your hair is usually thin or fine. Just be sure to eat healthy, take vitamins, and exercise (the best stress reliever) and your hair will be healthier.
